Equipment Tracking Overview

Equipment Tracking is an easy way to track individual pieces of equipment that you have, update their location (home/onsite) via dispatch tickets, and bring the material into inventory. Equipment Tracking is intended for both the Waste Brokerage (service) and Hauling (dispatch) workflow, but is not limited to. Below is an overview of the process.

1. Setting up your equipment

2. Using the Equipment Manager

3. Using Dispatch Tickets to move equipment

Setup:

In order to use the Equipment Tracking tool, you will need to have the module enabled, and equipment setup in your settings.

  • See our helpfile on enabling Equipment Tracking here.
  • See our helpfile on setting up Equipment here.

Information:

The Equipment > Inquiry is where you will create, manage, and leverage the individual pieces of equipment that you are tracking.

How to Create a Tracked Piece of Equipment:

  1. From the Equipment module, click + New Equipment.
  2. Enter an Equipment # and Container Type. The Equipment # will be the label for the piece of equipment and is user-definable. Special characters are supported. The Container Type is the the type of equipment, which gets populated by the list of equipment in your Common Information.
  3. Additional information can be added, such as a Tare Weight, Description, VIN#, Start and Last Inspection Date, the Home Yard (default warehouse), and even an image of the equipment.
  4. Finally, the Initial Location for the equipment will need to be set, whether that is at your facility (home) or away at client's location (customer). This is where the equipment is currently located.
    1. If HOME - select the Warehouse and Assignment Date.
    2. If CUSTOMER - select the Customer and Location. Additional information, such as Delivery Date, Truck #, and Driver, can be added.
  5. Click Save.

You're done! The piece of equipment has been setup and is now being tracked.

Workflow:

Our helpfile on using the inquiry, managing the equipment, and implementing it in your workflow can be found here.
