How are Products defined in cieTrade.net?

cieTrade.net provides flexibility in creating and using your products by allowing you to create a base grade list and then within each of your transactions or loads, you can further define attributes and specifications on a per product basis. Unlike many inventory systems or accounting workarounds, this simplicity allows you to keep a clean, parsed down version of your product list, instead of creating multiple instances of each product, for one-time use.

For example, if you trade HDPE, you can list the product as the following base grades:

HDPE Clear

HDPE Colored

HDPE Mixed

Then build the product specifications per the load that you are staging:

Within the Brokerage Worksheet, you can further define your product by entering a Specification and Packaging type. If your Customer or Supplier uses a different name for the product you are buying/selling, you can also enter an Alternate Name, which will mask the Product name to be displayed as the Alternate Name on documentation going to that Counterparty throughout the transaction.

Within the Inventory Receiving Worksheet, you can also further define your product by selecting specific attributes such as Condition and/or Class.

If a 'Rolls', 'Sheets', or 'Plastics' Packaging type is selected, further attributes for those products will appear, allowing you to enter the proper information.

PLEASE NOTE: After entering your attributes, if you would like it displayed in the product's Specification, click on the Pencil Icon to the right of the Specification field to update it with the attributes.
