Packing Partial Containers

cieTrade allows users to pack partial inventory by making the process of splitting up existing inventory items easier. You will need to have permission to edit inventory under Settings> Users & Roles.

1. From the Inventory Manager check off one lot of inventory. You will see a Split Inventory option appear at the top of the inquiry.

NOTE:  If you check more than one lot of inventory, the option will no longer be available. 2. Click Split Inventory and this pop up window will show. The Original Quantity and Original Units will display the current weight and number of units of the inventory lot. Enter the weight you want to make into a new item into the New Split Quantity field. Enter the number of units you want the weight to be divided into in New Split Units. In this example, I have a truck load of 22 bales, that I am taking 10,000 LBS from, as 6 bales to make a new inventory item.

3. Click Apply. You will now see two lines of inventory. The original item, minus the weight and packaging units you split, and the newly created item. In this example, the original item (27031)  is now 30,000LBS and the item (27032) is 10,000LBS.

4. This Split Feature works by creating a converting job in posted status in the background. If you click into the source column on the inventory manager of the newly created item, you will go to the Converting Job. 4. On the Converting Job, you will see under References, there is a note to trace where this inventory was created.

5. This inventory is now ready to be packed into a container. Click here for a help file on that.

Please note this feature only works with Serial inventory. For more information on inventory models, https://cietrade.helpscoutdocs.com/article/893-types-of-inventory-models
