Equipment Requirements & Suggestions

cieTrade supports an array of different pieces of equipment (or hardware) that can connect to the software and ease some of the burdens of your day-to-day operations. This article outlines the types of equipment that are supported and the requirements that need to be met in order to have a successful connection. Please keep in mind, the recommendations made in this article are not a complete list of the supported devices, but only what's been tested and approved of in-house.

Barcode Scanners

Requirements:

  • Must be able to connect to the computer/machine that's running cieTrade.
  • Must support EAN-128 (barcode format).
  • Must have a native camera.
  • Must be an Android device as we do not support IOS.

Barcode Printers

Requirements:

  • Must be able to connect to the computer/machine that's running cieTrade.
  • Must support 4x6in labels

Mobile Devices / Tablets

Requirements:

  • Must be able to connect to the internet.
  • Must be able to run webpages in "Desktop" mode.
  • Must have a native camera.
  • Must be an Android device as we do not support IOS. 

Recommendations:

NOTE: Microsoft Surface tablets are compatible with cieTrade's scale integration, meaning you can use them as a mobile workstation to run cieTrade and read integrated scales (if applicable). Microsoft Surfaces have this ability due to their operating system and the fact that they allow browser add-ons, which other tablets and mobile phones don't have.

Scales

Requirements:

  • Must be able to connect to the internet.
  • Must have a continuous output/stream of data

Cameras, Signature Pads, Driver License & Fingerprint Scanners

Requirements:

  • Must be able to connect to the computer/machine that's running cieTrade.

NOTE: It's very common for signature pads and scanners to require special computer drivers in order for them to work with your device. These requirements are imposed by the manufacturer, so we recommend consulting them for the specific requirements and limitations of these items to ensure compatibility.
