How to add IEC, GST, and Customs Codes to Counterparties

cieTrade has flexible fields on the Counterparty for to accommodate your customer/suppliers IEC, GSTIN, PAN number or Customs Codes. This help file will outline how to enter the information to be stored and/or pulled on to specific documents as needed.

What are these codes?

IEC Code: Importer Exporter Code, a 10 digit code number given to an exporter or importer by the DGFT, Department of Commerce, Government in India, 

GSTIN Code (or GST Code): Goods and Service Tax Identification Number, a unique 15 digit number which as replaced the Tax Identification Number. 

PAN number: Permanent Account Number, a 10 character alphanumeric identifier by the Indian Income Tax Department. 

How to enter them to be stored:

These numbers can be entered in the highlighted portions of the Counterparty form. If you need to use all three numbers, most clients enter the GST and PAN numbers together in the following format: 

GST: 69BBBET2566T5AL  PAN:OOOOGF5898N

Then the IEC number can be entered into the Customs Code field.
