Using the Product Import Tool
The Import Product Upload feature allows you to upload your Products to your cieTrade.net account in batch instead of uploading them one by one. This is the ideal way to import products if you have more than a couple of new products to enter.

Finding the Product Import Tool
The Product Import tool can be found by:
- Navigate to the Products module.
- Next to the Go, Export As, and Customize buttons at the top, there will be an option label Import. Click it.
How to Add / Fill-in Information
The Product Import tool has an exportable file in which you can use to fill out information and reupload, or use to enter directly into the import tool. All information must be entered into this spreadsheet. For a full break down of each column on the import template visit our help file here.
In-Template Method:
To export an empty template directly from the system, navigate to the Product Import tool and click Export Data in the right hand corner. In the Export Products window select Empty Template > Export to download the file from the system.
Each column represents a data point on the Products form. Each row represents a product. Add the product information into the available fields within the spreadsheet.
Once all of the information has been added, click the file icon to browse your files and bring the details into the tool window. From there, you can finish uploading data using the Upload Products button.
Once this template is imported into the system, the new products can be found in the Products module.
In-cieTrade Method:
In order for the spreadsheet to appear within cieTrade, an empty template must be uploaded using a similar process as listed above.
1) Navigate to the Products Import tool and click on Export Data.
2) Check off Empty Template and then Export.
3) Choose the file folder button to select the downloaded file and open the empty spreadsheet in the import tool.
NOTE: If you've added a Product Group or Category, the information must already exist in the system for the upload to work.
- Product Groups and Categories can be managed in Settings > Common Information > Product Group/Category.

Flagged Cells & Common Issues
Upon uploading the spreadsheet, you may run into a problem where a handful or more data cells are flagged, which will prevent the upload from being completed. The most common cause of a flagged cell is due to an issue with the information in the cell, or the format that it is in. After the validation check, which occurs upon clicking the Import Data button, a comment will be added to any flagged cell detailing the reason why it was flagged.
