Receiving Containers with the Container Manager

This article outlines how to receive containers using the Container Manager. 

Before you begin, you will need:

  • An open Booking
  • Container & Seal Numbers
  • The weight of the material
  • (Optional) an open Purchase Order

To begin:

  1. Navigate to the Containers module. 
  2. Select Tasks > New Container. 
  3. Enter a Ship Date.
  4. Select the Supplier, and subsequent Location the container is coming from. 
  5. (optional) Enter a Purchase Order.
  6. Select the Material and Packaging Type.
  7. Enter the Quantity and Price.
  8. Select the Booking the container is scheduled for.
  9. Enter the Container No and Seal No.
  10. If needed, a Pickup No and Equipment Tare can be entered.
  11. Any expenses incurred for the purchasing of this container (besides the cost of the material) can be added. 
  12. Once finished, click Save.

NOTE: If you enter a Purchase Order, the product, packaging, and price will pull in automatically.

4. If you are linking a Purchase Order you can either select a Supplier and use the Purchase Order lookup or you can type in the Purchase Order number to populate the Supplier.

5.  Select the Commodity. If a PO is attached, then you will see the Contract Grade ahead of the product list.

10. Click Save and New. This will bring up a new form, with the weights, container, and seal numbers cleared out.

11. Each of the saved Container Forms will create a Receiving Worksheet in the background, set to Posted status. This means the container will be automatically received into inventory. To make modifications, unpost, etc, click on the container record in the inquiry and click on the hyperlinked Worksheet number.

Note: The order of the column headers are customize-able. If you do not see Source-Wks column header immediately, scroll to the right. If you would like to edit the order of the column headers you can click "Customize" in the top left corner of the Container Management screen.
