Privacy Policy for AI Feature
The new Business Intelligence AI feature is only available to clients who willingly elect into the service.
By agreeing to the following terms:
" By enabling Business Intelligence features, you agree that transaction data retrieved from your cieTrade database may be sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service (hosted within Microsoft's Azure infrastructure) to generate AI responses. Microsoft contractually commits that your data is not used to train AI models and does not interact with OpenAI's public services. Data may be temporarily retained by Microsoft for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes only. cieTrade does not store your query results beyond the duration of your chat session.”
Below are additional details regarding data use:
Technical and Privacy Details:
Data is sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI (not directly to OpenAI) to generate the AI's response. It is not sent to any other third party.
What happens to their data:
Their database query results are included in the prompt sent to Azure OpenAI (gpt-4o on cietradeai.openai.azure.com)
Microsoft Azure OpenAI's enterprise terms state that customer data is not used to train OpenAI or Microsoft models
Data is not shared with OpenAI directly — it goes through Microsoft's Azure infrastructure and data privacy commitments
What stays private:
The raw database (SQL Server) stays entirely within cieTrade’s client database
The AI only receives the query result rows in controlled/read-only data views, that are relevant to the question asked — NOT the entire database
Qdrant (vector database) runs on a non-public facing server within the cieTrade network — no third party involved
Help Scout knowledge base content for cieTrade’s own documentation
Microsoft's Azure OpenAI data privacy commitments: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-foundry/responsible-ai/openai/data-privacy
Specifically, the "Data, privacy, and security for Azure OpenAI Service" documentation which confirms customer data is not used for training
*For clients that DO NOT wish to utilize the Business Intelligence model (only one that refers to client specific data), can be excluded from using the BI chat by not electing into the service. That will only leave them with the Support (Help Scout and Release Notes) cieTrade AI model.
