Scrap Metal Management Settings

To enable the Scrap Metal Management feature, please follow the steps below. 

Please Note: once you have posted a grade to Finished Goods, this option will lock down and the only way to uncheck it will be to reverse all AP, AR associated with the inventory. 

1. Under Settings> Inventory> Inventory Settings> Enable Scrap Inventory Manager

2. This will show another drop down called ' finished Goods' class. This refers to which user defined class you want to designate as Finished Goods. NOTE: there can only be one Finished Goods designation. 

You can add the list of classes under Settings> Inventory> Classes which will populate this list. 

3. There is a second check box called 'Hide Advanced Inventory Menu. If checked, this will hide the serial inventory module where Inventory shipping, receiving, converting and inventory manager are shown. If you will not be using any serialized products (tracking per each discreet item from point of receipt through shipping) then it is recommended to check this box. Enabling this system option will also change the left hand menu on the main dashboard, showing the Receiving and Shipping tabs as top level menu items instead of in the Inventory submenu. 

4. Click Save to activate the settings. 

5. Next step will be to set up your GL accounts which are required prior to setting up grades and counterparties. Here is a helpfile on how to map these so they match with your accounting system.
