Options for Transitioning from Using Serial Inventory to Bulk Perpetual

The choice you make for the inventory model of your products/grades will have a significant impact on how they are managed within the system. Luckily, cieTrade is flexible enough to transition to other models down the line, as your unique requirements change over time.  Here are the options available to you specifically for transitioning from our serial model to a bulk perpetual model. 

1. Create a new database and have a cut over date when you’d like to start using the new model.
2. Sending our team a list of grades that need to be moved to bulk, and cieTrade can take care of updating the products manually in your database.  With this method you would be selling out serial inventory over time, and receiving in bulk material.  Eventually all serial inventory will be relieved and your team would only be working on the bulk model.
3. Choose a cut over date, and the last day before (at night), our team would sell out all serial grades, and upload bulk grades into the system.  Prior to doing this we would require a list of the grades, weights and average cost per material type, to apply to the bulk grades for import.  This will allow your team to utilize the updated inventory type, but not produce any payables for this material.  cieTrade will need all users to log off of the system for about an hour to complete the changeover.
