Grading Material in cieTrade

The Grade Material feature allows cieTrade users to receive unsorted grades with or without pricing, and track both sorted and unsorted weights on the same receiving worksheet. Any sorted materials with pricing listed on the worksheet can be pulled onto an inventory sale even when the load hasn't been fully sorted and graded yet.

In order to utilize this feature, the received grade must be set to a Do Not Track inventory type.

Step 1: Receive the Truckload

Create a new receiving ticket in the Inventory module. Select your supplier, pickup location, and warehouse details from the drop downs, and enter your truck gross and tare weight in the Scale Weight block.

Click on +Add Item to enter your do not track inventory grade.  There should only be ONE grade line listed.
-The net weight from the scale block will automatically update the quantity on the grade line. No manual entry is required.

Save your receiving ticket in a WORK status.

Step 2: Grade the Material

Once your team is ready to weigh and sort this load, navigate to More Actions > Grade Material on the view page of the receiving worksheet. This will bring you a scaling interface so you can begin grading your material.

Select +Add a new Grade to begin entering your sorted material.  Enter a product from the drop down, and choose a packaging type.  Quantity can be entered manually OR users can utilize the Gross/Tare block, which is meant to pull weights in from an integrated floor scale. Price can be added at this point if it’s known. If the user does not have access to pricing at this point it can be set to $0.

When all available details have been entered, select Apply to add the material to your graded list.

As products are added to the grading sheet, the weight of each product will be added to the Graded-WT field, and the Remaining-WT will be reduced. Here’s how each value is calculated. The Net-WT is the gross weight of your truck minus the truck tare, or the net weight listed from the scale block on your worksheet. This represents the weight of the product from this load plus the packaging it was received with.  The Graded-WT is a total of the weight of all the graded material entered on the interface.  The Remaining-WT is the Net-WT minus the Graded-WT total.  PLEASE NOTE: These values will drive reporting on how much material has been received vs. graded.

If there is still a value in the Remaining-WT field once the load has been completely graded, users have the option to apply the leftover weight to a package or equipment tare by selecting +Set Equipment Tare.  The Remaining-WT field should no longer have any weight listed after selecting this option.  The equipment tare weight will be recorded for reporting and settlement purposes, but will not show as inventory.

Save the grading sheet to update your receiving ticket with the graded material details.

Once you save your grading sheet cieTrade will automatically navigate back to the receiving ticket. Any graded materials will show on the Product/Grade list, with associated weights and/or pricing.

A few actions can be performed at this point.

    • Any products that do not yet have pricing can be updated another time. However, they cannot be sold until pricing is entered.

    • Users can come back into the receiving ticket at a later date to finish grading any remaining miscellaneous weight from that load.

    • The graded products with pricing can now be sold out by updating the worksheet to a POSTED status.

NOTE: One benefit of using the grading sheet is that you have the ability to sell the graded lines, as well as open the grading sheet back up to finish grading the rest of the load even when the worksheet is posted. However, once posted the product that has been graded already is locked down, and cannot be deleted or updated.
