How to Setup and Use MSF Pricing

cieTrade supports MSF (area) pricing on Orders and Worksheets. This helpfile details the steps in order to get setup and begin using it. MSF pricing is supported on Orders (Purchase & Sales) and Worksheets (Brokerage, Receiving, & Shipping).

Below are the steps to set it up and use it on Orders and Worksheets (brokerage, receiving tickets and shipping).

Getting Setup:

In order to use MSF pricing, you will need to setup a packaging type tied to the 'Roll' attribute. It is is associated data points (and specs) of the Roll attribute that is used to calculate the price.

1. Navigate to Settings > Common Information > Packaging Types.
2. Create a Packaging Type and assign 'Rolls' as the Property Set. This will enable a set of roll stock attribute fields on the orders and worksheets when this packaging type is selected. 
3. Once finished, click Save. 

How to Use:

As mentioned, MSF pricing is supported an Orders and Worksheets.

On an Order:

The following steps can be used on a Purchase Order or a Sales Order. 

1. Create a Purchase Order.
2. On the Product/Grade line, select the grade and set the Packaging to the type that you just set up that has the Roll attributes.
3. Enter the number of units you expect. (In this example, there are 25 Rolls)
4. Enter the Pricing and select MSF as the unit of measurement.
5. Enter the Quantity and select MSF as the unit of measure, or record the quantity in a weighted unit of measure. 
6. Record the Roll Width and Length within the provided specification fields. 

7. Once you input the specifications and price, the total price will calculate.

8. If MSF is chosen as the unit of measure in both the Pricing and Quantity fields, the overall extension will populate as well. 

NOTE: Everything will be converted to FT as a common UOM for calculation purposes. The formula used is: (Roll Width (in FT) x Length (in FT)) / 1,000 (1,000 x Number of Packages) = MSF x Buy or Sell Price

On a Worksheet:

1. Create a Receiving, Shipping, or a Brokerage Worksheet.
2. Select the Sales and/or Purchase Order that was created above.
3. Click on the Product/Grade line and enter the Roll Width and Length. 

The MSF field will automatically get filled in when the Roll Width and Length is entered and the Pricing is per MSF. You can override this field and the system will use whatever value you type in to calculate the extension.

NOTE: Everything will be converted to feet (FT) as a common UOM for calculation purposes. The formula used is: (Roll Width (in FT) x Length (in FT)) / (1,000 x Number of Packages) = MSF x Buy or Sell Price

Example Calculation:

(12 x 55) / 1,000 (25) = 16.5 MSF x $550 (sell price) = $9075.00

(12 x 55) / 1,000 (25) = 16.5 MSF x $475 (buy price) = $7837.50
