How to Create & Use Email Templates

Emailing within cieTrade has become more efficient with the introduction of Email Templates. These templates allow you to create preformatted emails that can automatically include essential information from orders, worksheets, or bookings, making mass emailing effortless.

To find your email templates:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Email Templates.

NOTE: All new accounts come equipped with pre-existing templates that can serve as a foundation for your future templates.

How to Create an Email Template:

Email templates are very easy to make!

  1. From the Email Template Overview page, click + New.
  2. Label the template in the Description field.
  3. Specify the module and document type the template will primarily be used with. These choices will generate placeholders for the template.
  4. Compose the email body, which can contain static text and data "placeholders" that will be filled with corresponding information upon sending.
  5. To add placeholders, use the Insert Placeholder button. You can place them in the email body or subject line.
  6. Set the email's subject line.
  7. Add email addresses to the From, CC, and BCC fields, as needed.

NOTE: Using placeholders is optional but helpful for automatically populating key business data in the email.

WARNING: The Invoice Manager, Credit Limit Warning and Batch Invoice tool are not compatible with regular email templates. In order to use an email template with these pages, you must setup a designated template for them and select the correlating module and document type.

How to Use an Email Template:

  1. When ready to email a document or attachment, go to the Send an Email page.
  2. Select the desired template (if set as default, it will populate automatically).

  3. Enter or select the email recipients in the To, CC, and BCC fields.
  4. Click Send.
